Fi: The Introverted Feeling type is characterized by a feeling-based inner world, where they usually assess the “right and wrong” of things based on their own personal emotional criteria and views formed through introspection. This feeling-based self-reflection is inwardly focused, making them less inclined to share their views openly, though they also tend to desire authentic expression of their inner emotional world as an expression of themselves. This contrasts with the Extraverted Feeling type, which is more emotionally expressive and outwardly focused on expressing emotions that are in accordance with an environment or situation, rather than expressing its true emotions while keeping its reasoning to itself. When the Introverted Feeler chooses to express themselves, they will share their emotional reasoning openly. They can sometimes mistake their values for logic.
An example of Introverted Feeling is Desmond Doss. As a World War II veteran, he stuck by the principles of his faith and refused to touch a weapon. He subsequently saved many lives during the course of the war. Another example of an Introverted Feeling type is XXXTentacion, who imbued his music with an almost inner emotion and the characteristic Fi form of empathy, which consists of putting oneself in others’ shoes to feel their emotions.
