Ni

Ni: Introverted Intuition is discerned by a vision of abstract internal analysis, meaning that Ni users explore patterns within themselves and focus on possible answers to a problem.

Unlike Ne users, who explore multiple alternatives, Ni is an introverted function that centralizes internal patterns, images, and symbolism. This can be confused with daydreaming, but just because someone has a vivid imagination does not mean they are an Ni user. Ni draws from unconscious symbols and images that, in turn, provide meaning to the Ni user’s mind and often serve to anticipate the future. This makes the Ni user focus on the details of their perceived symbolism, whereas an Ne user may see the same symbolism but will focus on external patterns and possibilities, thinking about what something could represent rather than analyzing its internal symbolic meaning. This makes Ni more focused and detailed, and less interested in what sits outside its internal analysis. Thus, we get Ni tunnel vision, whereas Ne users are far more scattered, novelty-seeking, and impressionistic.
